Tuskegee
Our new Red-tailed hawk ambassador’s name is Tuskegee! Thanks to all who voted!
Baby squirrels
Can anyone help transport these baby squirrels from Lynchburg, VA to Roanoke, VA this morning. Theses little ones have been without mom since yesterday afternoon.
Squirrels
It is still summer and fall squirrels are arriving! The center triaged 22 new patients today. Year to date we have treated 1179 animals.
Grey Fox Kit
Our Grey Fox kit weighed in at 2.48 kg (5.5lbs.) today. We want him to be 10 pounds before releasing. This kit’s feisty attitude (he tried to attack while getting his photo taken), proves he will be able to fend for himself when released.
Cliff Swallow
The sweet Cliff Swallow (right) is helping fed the younger Barn Swallow (left). They do not have siblings, so we placed them together.
Judy and ???
Just Loope is letting our new ambassador meet the staff. Our Red-tailed hawk does not have an name. Help us decide what his name should be.
New ambassador
Our ambassador, Red-tailed hawk is ready to meet the public and help with programs. But, we have a big problem! Our hawk does not have a name. PLEASE, help name him.
The hawk became eligible to be an education animal when he was confiscated from someone that did not have the proper permits, and was kept too long in captivity to be retuned to the wild.
Oops
The juvenile Chimney Swifts are beginning to fly off their roost. Oops!
