Owlet
The Great horned owlet’s first attempts at flight.
Finches
House Finches enjoying one of many meals given every 30 minutes from 8AM to 8PM.
Sandhill Crane
Our fabulous vet, Dr. Diane, rodeoing a Sandhill Crane by herself! She actually has to straddle the crane to keep the bird from injuring itself. That is impressive! The bird was captured in Christiansburg today after concerned locals noticed it was not flying off when approached. Sandhill Cranes are rarely spotted in our region since this is not their habitat or migratory path. Thanks to Rudi Woykowski, Don and Kim Hall for their rescue.
VA Op’s Team
Special VA Op’s Team (Virginia Opossum) working at 9:30 PM to feed 20 opossums.
Weaned
Who “says” I am weaned?
Clapper
Clapper appears to be giving the owlet a looks that says, “it is your turn to tell humans to stay away.”
Finches
Today Gail Anderson, volunteer extraordinaire, kept busy feeding House Finches, owls, mallards, squirrels, opossums, cottontails and woodchucks. She started at 10:00 AM and was still feeding at 8:00 PM. Please let Gail know how much we appreciate her!
