Hannah
Hannah Millsaps, is holding our last patient of the year case 1202 for 2014. Hit by car and definitely not feeling well, her treatment is in process. The eyes are of concern and we will hope for improvement.
Happy New Year and thanks to all the volunteers, staff and rescuers that helped this past year.
Judy & Owl
Eastern Screech Owl released last night in Roanoke County by Judy Loope.
Eastern Screech Owl
Eastern Screech Owl will be released tomorrow evening after the weather clears. “Gaston” for reference only in honor of the driver who stopped to rescue him. The owl flew into his semi on October 21st. We plan to release near Elliston.
Judy
Our lovely Judy Loope is helping again! She and her husband John are driving the Cooper’s to the Wildlife Center today for a needed eye exam. Our vet is on holiday and I am concerned about the hawk’s vision.
Cooper’s Hawk
Cooper’s Hawk rescued at a campground in Dixie Caverns in Roanoke County. The campground’s proximity to I 81 and the patients injuries make us assume he was hit by a vehicle. The patient is comfortable and our hopes that he/she will soon recover from the head trauma. He devoured his first meal!
Thank you!
Zombie our education owl is stunned by the donations. Thank you for the needed funding and please keep sending donations in.

Heron
Judy held the Heron while I tubed it with a delicious fish slurry! The Heron is on its way with Judy to the WCV. Judy is spending 4 hours on this transport to help the Heron. The left pelvic area has a break. We are sending in hopes that it is a surgical candidate.
Heron
Lovely folks, Brenda and Tom Overholt drove over 2 hours round trip to transport an injured Heron to SWVA. It is a joint venture with the public helping the wildlife. Thanks to everyone that rescues or transports for us!
