Did you know that you can use your IRA to help eagles and other wildlife?
As of December 2019, people who are 72 or older with a traditional IRA must take a distribution from that account every year. This amount is called the Required Minimum Distribution and is decided based on life expectancy by the IRS. The required distributions are taxed, just like regular income.
Some individuals may be looking for ways to increase their ability to give to causes they care about. Others find that required Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) place them into a higher tax bracket than expected or have an impact on benefit programs such as Social Security. Both situations can be remedied through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), where an IRA holder can choose to send their RMD directly to a qualified charity of your choice, such as ours! In this situation, the QCD is not counted as taxable income, the Requirement Minimum Distribution for your IRA is met, AND you help make a difference in the lives of the thousands of animals we treat every year. It is a win-win-win situation!
Contact the custodian of your IRA and/or your tax professional to see if making a Qualified Charitable Distribution to us is right for you.
