Yellow-billed Cuckoo

Thankfully, our last Yellow-billed Cuckoo in rehab was released today. October 19, is the last (late) date cuckoos have been found in our area. This time of year it is critical that migrating patients are released in time to gather and fly south. If our patients are not in top physical condition and miss migration, then we over winter them. Migrating birds need extra weight before release for their long distance trip and our Cuckoo finally gained enough! The last of the Cuckoos were just spotted making their track to South America.
