Hummingbird
Wildlife rehab is exhausting and it is easy to move mindlessly from one patient to the next.
Tonight, while changing this hummingbird’s cage, I paused. Wow! I am actually holding a female Ruby-throated hummingbird!
I am certified to work with wildlife, but tonight this little one stopped me in my rounds. As I gazed down at this tiny 6 gram beauty, it was as if someone had hit me with a sledge hammer. Twenty years of rehab and I am still humbled by the beauty around us.
