Snapping Turtle
Case number 812-2015 is a male Snapping Turtle. He arrived at our center after being rescued from a window well where he had been trapped for days.
Snapping turtles mature at 8-10 years of age and can live to be over 40 years old. The females lay ping-pong size eggs in May and June. The eggs incubate up to 90 days before hatching. If you ever find turtle eggs, please do not touch or move them, because eggs will only hatch if they are in the same position they were laid.
Our snapping turtle has responded well to hydration and we plan on returning him to the same location, but not near the window well!
