Are your baby birds overheating in these temperatures? Birdhouses must have ventilation at the top and need to be made from natural wood. Recycled birdhouses look great and are environmentally friendly but they aren’t for the birds! We placed a well ventilated recycled birdhouse made from plastic with a temperature gauge inside. Temperatures on 90 degrees days were documented to be 120 degrees inside the house. Temperatures this high will kill hatchlings and nestlings. Songbirds cannot move their young. So go natural when offering Birdhouses.
